Design a Mars Station

Friday Nov 20th

Blast off into an out-of-this-world STEAM adventure! In this hands-on workshop, kids ages 7-12 will become space architects as they design and build their very own Mars research station.

Campers will:

Explore what life on Mars might look like and learn how scientists and architects design for extreme environments.
Sketch and plan their own futuristic Mars station, thinking about sleeping quarters, research labs, food production, and survival systems.
Build a detailed 3D Mars base model using cardboard, recycled materials, and craft supplies.

By the end of the workshop, each camper will have a model of their own Mars station and a new understanding of how architecture, science, and engineering work together to help humans explore space. No experience needed, just bring your imagination and curiosity!

Perfect for: Future astronauts, young engineers, creative thinkers, space lovers, and kids who love to design and build!

Build a Geodesic Structure

Friday, February 12th, 2027

Get ready to design and construct your own geodesic dome, inspired by the stunning Bloedel Conservatory! We’ll provide all the materials—just bring your creativity and curiosity. You’ll explore the fascinating world of geometric patterns and engineering as you build a stable, eye-catching structure from scratch.

What you’ll learn:

The math and geometry behind geodesic dome designs
Problem-solving skills to turn 2D shapes into a 3D structure
Hands-on building techniques to create a strong, visually striking dome

By the end of the workshop, each camper will have a one-of-a-kind geodesic dome and a new appreciation for architecture and creative design. No experience needed—just bring your imagination!
