DIY Halloween Decorations Made From Recycled Materials

If you’ve joined any of our camps or classes, then you know we love making things from recycled materials. This goes for around the home too! Why waste money and materials on seasonal décor when you can get your creative juices flowing and make your own. It’s also a great activity to do with the whole family! Kids of all ages can get involved. Here are some ideas we’ve put together that’s we’re excited to try and make this Halloween!

Paper Spiderwebs

Ghost Garland

Paper Garland

Starting off easy, you’ve got your paper projects. Newspaper, coloured paper, wrapping paper… Anything you have lying around the house works for these projects. We especially love the idea of garland using twine and clothespins!

Light-up Haunted House

Haunted Village

Reversible Haunted House

Next up, cardboard. Or even wood if you wanted this to be a more permanent decoration. Using milk cartons, cardboard boxes, or even cereal boxes, you can create some spooktacular haunted houses or a full haunted village! This is a great project to get the kids involved with. It can be adapted to any age too. We also love the idea of making it reversible and creating a gingerbread house on the other side. A two-in-one project!

Spirit Jugs

DIY Skeleton

Mummy Plates

These are some easy options for the younger kids. Skeletons made from cotton swabs, spooky ghosts from recycled jugs, or some mummies made from paper plates and string!

Painted Eyeballs

Leaf Bats

Ghost Rocks

Lastly, if you know us, you know how much we love using found things in nature for our projects. Painting rocks or leaves, using sticks in your haunted houses, and anything else you can come up with! We know your creativity is endless so go for a walk outside and see what you can find!
